Jeanne, directed by Fabien Remblier (France)
Jeanne – 2021 – 29 min When he disembarks illegally at night on a French beach after several attempts to cross it, Abdel knows that he can only rely on himself. He has to be discreet and not stay grouped on the beach with his companions of misfortune. During the night, he quickly moves away before the gendarmes arrive and takes refuge in a garden. The house seems deserted. He is woken up by a woman who threatens him with a gun, Jeanne. She is going to injure herself while trying to chase the intruder away. Abdel is faced with a choice that will turn his life upside down: leave Jeanne on the ground, steal as much money as possible from her and run away, or stay put and help her. He chooses to help Jeanne return to her home and take care of her until she recovers. Jeanne, full of a-priori about migrants and foreigners, is suspicious. She has hidden her loneliness for too long under acrimonious and racist exteriors and cannot help insulting the young man. Yet, without saying so, she appreciates finally having some company. Little by little they discover each other, and each of them lets their guard down. Confrontation becomes complicity. Their lives will literally change.   Fabien Remblier is a former actor who became director. He specialises in stereoscopic 3D content. He has made about forty recordings of concerts and shows in 3D, several of which have won awards at international festivals. In 2018, he directed the 3D short film Dans tes pas (Walking In Your Footsteps). Jeanne is his second short film.
