Carlos Relvas Stereo Raisonée
The Carlos Relvas Stereo Raisonné is the comprehensive catalogue of Carlos Relvas’s stereoscopic photography. Carlos Relvas (1838-1894) was the most renowned Portuguese photographer in the 19th century. This catalogue draws on an unprecedented research covering ten public and private collections of stereoscopic photography by Relvas which were, for the first time, digitized, catalogued and cross-referenced with their corresponding negatives. As a digital aggregator of physical collections scattered throughout Portugal and abroad, the Carlos Relvas Stereo Raisonné offers a completely new perspective on the early years of Relvas’s photography and on the contribution of stereoscopy for the launch of his international career.
Designed to offer an intuitive and multileveled research, the Carlos Relvas Stereo Raisonné will take you on a journey to hundreds of ‘image families’ combining both negatives and prints, as well as stereoscopic and single-lens photographs.

Important Note: New Dates for S&I Media 2021
For a better accommodation of the large number of submissions received, the organizing committee of S&I Media 2021 has decided to add a fourth day to its programme and to schedule it over two weekends: 11-12 June and 18-19 June. 119 abstracts were submitted to this year’s online edition of S&I Media by researchers from over 30 universities and institutions from 27 different countries such as Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore and Switzerland.
This new calendar will both allow for a better accommodation of the large number of submissions received and will contribute to concentrate our programme in GMT afternoons, becoming more accessible to other Western time zones. On the other hand, this will also allow everyone to get the most of our parallel events!

- S&I Media support for processing in anaglyph the stereoscopic photographs for your presentation: until 7 May. Please send your images to stereoimmersivemedia@ulusofona.pt. Make sure each image file is 1920 x 1080 pixels (HD).

Our call for papers is closing soon!
The organizing committee invites scholars, researchers, artists, curators and archivists to submit an abstract for a presentation addressing one or more of the following themes:
- 1- Stereoscopic Photography and its Visual Cultures (19th to 21st Century);
- 2- Photography, Cinema and Sound Media Archaeologies;
- 3- Scientific and Social History of Early Immersive Media;
- 4- 3D Cinema, Virtual Reality and Video Gaming;
- 5- Media Arts (Visual/Sound) and Immersion;
- 6- Urban Sound Studies;
- 7- Performance and Visual Media;
- 8- Cultural Heritage and Digital Age.
Join our online conference next June! It will bring together a community of experts in stereoscopic and immersive media. We will have as keynote speakers Tom Gunning, Denis Pellerin, Carlos Teixidor and Elizabeth Edwards. Several parallel events, such as an auction, an exhibition and the launch of a catalogue, are being prepared to make the most of this online experience. We are also receiving proposals for a Stereoscopic 3D Short Film Festival until March 31.
